Here's a photo of Trim, Co. Meath balloon pilot Pauline Baker in G-CEHX, a tiny Lindstrand LBL9A balloon taken recently in Switzerland on her way to breaking the female AX-1 World duration and altitude records. The dry weight of the whole balloon *and* pilot including empty fuel cylinder is 75kg. The envelope is made from a mylar composite and weighs 9kg. The internal water vapour cannot permeate the material hence the escaping steam seen coming out of the envelope mouth and up the outside in the photograph. After landing, the internal temperature passes the dew point and around 8kg of water condenses inside into puddles, purely as a result of the propane combustion.
