Blatant Self-publicity - Blog Awards -Clear Of Cloud

Post by OnTheNumbers » Mon Feb 12, 2007 11:22 am

My new blog, Clear of Cloud, has been nominated for an Irish Blogger Award in the Specialist Blog category.

The awards are getting more and more mainstream media coverage each year and a GA win wouldn't do us any harm at all- even in a specialist category.
In the interest of raising the profile of aviation - and more importantly my ego - I'd appreciate a few votes. Or indeed, and indecent number of votes!!

(Best Specialist Blog category - Clear of Cloud - g'wan you want to)

Those of you with long memories may remember me as one of the student contributors in Flying in Ireland and perhaps my piece on Fergus Flynn's Europa.

Any support will be grovellingly appreciated!!!

Thanks for the votes - I'll let you know how it goes. Vote from as many email accounts as you have !!!

I noticed that there didn't seem to many general aviation or pilot blogs out there. I figured I'd hate people to think that we were an uncreative, illiterate bunch.

Anyone got any feedback or comments?

There are very, very few pilots blogs in Ireland, that's for sure. I've kept one for the last 2 years but I dont publicise it anymore because I've had very little time to keep my old website up to decent design standards. I really like how yours is very general - about all sorts of GA news and accounts. (I keep mine quite selfishly: just about each flight I've done). Also, your writing is bloody good :D

I was sceptical, I must say. I don't like blogs in general. But I had a read anyway.... the bit about the airfield on the frosty morning....

well, what can I say? You got my vote!

Thank you for you comments.

I try to keep it general because if I only wrote when I fly, there'd be nothing posted at all

Nanolight, thank you. Lane Wallace of Flying magazine in the US - inspires by writing about more than that mechanics of flight. I try in my way to capture for my friends, a little of why I fly. Until I actually get the license, words are all they'll get.

AlphaLaura, any chance you'd start back blogging again? Seems a bit strange that there's such a dearth of Irish web content, given that we're meant to be such a techie country and a nation of talkers.
