Airport Security!!! Joke or not?

Post by michael747 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 2:40 pm

Hi,

I was flying from dublin to liverpool last week and i forgot that i had a fishing knife with a blade about 4 inches long on my keys.

I was gonna tell the security personnel that i had forgotten to take it off as i realise it is a weapon, but i decided against it to test the security of the airport- so i put the knife and my keys through the scanners at security on the way to the departure gate.

As i had thought, they did not even look at me once- i had a four inch blade in my bag and i boarded the Ryanair flight no problem!!!

I found this quite disturbing :? when i actually thought about it, but it was the same on the way back from liverpool...

Has anyone else realised that the security at the airport is still a bit of a joke from your own experiences?

Mike

When a flight is proceeding incredibly well, something was forgotten.

cant say I notice it.
Last time I went through Dublin was just prior to the new year. I put my wallet through the scanner and the guy stopped me because of a swiss card thing. Its like a credit card with a small tweezers, scissors etc.. in it.
Thats a lot less harmful than a 4 inch blade.
Like everywhere else, you have your bad apples at the airport. Maybe the guy searching you just did'nt give a sh1t.

I have no faith in the "Hitler Wannabees" that are Dublin security. They are only there probably because they're under-qualified for every other security job in the city!

Other airports are just as bad. Recently I passed through the cargo terminal in Chicago O'Hare. Got off the crew bus on the public road outside, walked through an open door, past an office into the warehouse. Out through the wide open loading bay onto the main cargo ramp with several DC1-/MD11/767/747`s parked on it.
Never stopped, searched, x-rayed or asked for ID.
Screw you guys.....I`m going home.......

.... surely when they cut the harness the fall from the tree will kill them ?
