Re: Are these planes still flying?
BMJ was sold to Dave Bruton. As i understand it the engine was to be used in another aircraft while the aircraft was destined for the scrap heap or cannibalisation. Either way it's gone to aviation scrapyard in the sky.

Re: Are these planes still flying?
I can comment on BJC. Yes it is still flying. As stated on the register it belongs to Eamon Griffin and he flys out of a very small grass strip near the powerstation at Ardnacrusha. Eamon regular pops into Coonagh for cuppa and a chat in BJC. A nice little machine indeed. That is one of your list co...

Re: Limerick Flying Club
Updated update: We have been having a number of inquiries from around the country about our plans for Saturday. Fingers crossed weather will behave on Saturday to allow a few visitors drop by to say hello. Depending on which forecast model one looks at it should be ok during the afternoon. Anyway fo...

Re: Limerick Flying Club
A quick update. Coonagh will welcome any pilots and their crews who happen to be in the area on the 21/22 August. BBQ proceeding as planned on Saturday 21st. There is a Plan B in the event of adverse weather so there will be a social event at the club regardless. Anyway who wishes to come along for ...

Re: Water Contamination in Cessna Aircraft
On a recent trip to the US, while in an FBO, I saw a recently issued bulletin from Cessna stating that fuels containing ethanol should not be used in any Cessna aircraft -period! They stressed the risks of water contamination and carb icing that it brings.

Re: Live ATC Oshkosh
If you are a member of the EAA you can register with www.oshkosh365.org. That link's to live webcams which you can use in conjuction with the Live ATC feed. The ATC patter at Oshkosh is very high speed and often one way in that the system allows pilots to operate without replying unless they have a ...

Re: Knock v Sligo
I have been part of a flyout from Coonagh this weekend which included an overnight at Sligo on Saturday 22nd. We were well received and looked after there. Access to and from the terminal was easy though on Sunday morning we did run foul of an Aer Arann flight arriving and departing. Because the gro...

Re: Limerick Flying Club Fly-out 22/23 May - Traffic Alert
I am delighted to report we all got to Enniskillen, Sligo, Donegal and back to Coonagh without any incidents or tech problems. Weather was great as were the flying and the craic. Nine aircraft took part in the flyout. On behalf of all nineteen us who went on the trip I would like to put on record ou...

Re: End of an era
Ditto.
Will miss BFP upon which I had logged a lot of hours over the past seven years - including my second "first solo" in August 2003 (after a 17 break from flying).
As HUM says the Koliber is a good replacement with more more, greater range and get up and go.

Yes. Don't stop there. Do as I do - an odd touch and go. File as Training flight for lowest rate.

Re: Bantry / Helicopter landing site
Westlodge Hotel on other side of hill from airfield accepts helis with PPR on the open area downhill from the main hotel buidling. Phone the manager Eileen 027-50360. Lots of trees about but plenty of room. Safest bet though is airfield. I was there last week. Incidentally they have made some improv...
