Re: Weston Airport Fly-In Setptember 10th

Sounds good but definitely a case of "last one out turn off the lights" in Weston right now. The exodus out of there for private guys has been swift. On any given Sunday (or weekday) that I call in there is rarely a hint of an aircraft operator there. Few instructors drinking latte's and wearing nic...

The ops guys where you pay for fuel etc, have 7 of them left in stock. Ask for Noel if you can't get any joy,but they are up there. Alternative is we ll be there on Sat/Sunday with them. Either way will get you sorted out.

Re: Aviators Guide to Ireland

Thanks Bearcat, You certainly have the hardware to exploit the full potential of the book. The flying scene is very quiet, and I'm continually underwhelmed by how many people are out and about. We cant sort the recession, but with a lifetime's flying (& months of work...) condensed into a book/gps f...

Re: Inishmann

It will be an absolute greek tragedy if "Aer A$$hole" get control of the 3 islands, boffin, or cleggan. IMHO they are living in a bubble of a state quango that supports a their sugar pedestal outlook on life. When we were doing the survey flying for the book, we were treated with utmost contempt and...

Re: Flying is getting very expensive.

Flying is expensive, but I think it always was.... Look at the prices of all the new aircraft that came into Ireland in the 60's/70's and 80's. People had the best of new Cessnas, Pipers etc and Ireland had dealers for all the big brands. I think if you inflation adjust the costs perhaps it might no...

Best fly in so far.... Really a hub of active flyers there in Frenchpark. 7 aircraft backtracking with 3 in the circuit.... Loved the Extra 300. Great landing video here;

Re: Aviators Guide BONUS - Garmin GDB file

All I've done is just delete the additional waypoints I didnt need, such as Weston etc etc. You be amazed how far off some of the Garmin waypoints are.... Try Bantry. Some of the local lakes are named wrong too. Try Lough Owel.....If you have a Garmin there will be the little "R" in a cirlcle for al...
