Re: NMAI Challenge Trophy.

Despite weather most foul, wind most challenging, mud most sticky, marauders arrived today from the west and made away with the cup.
Don't fill it too full, I'll doubt you'll get time to drink it.

Re: NMAI Challenge Trophy.

Hi Jon. Any chance of awarding the points on distance travelled, number of rescues,Number of airfields visited etc. The amount of time its held for should not be considered a factor. This was pointed out to me today when i expressed my intention of rescuing the cup and lodging it in SC'c new field i...

Re: PPL(A) but cant fly a 3-axis in Ireland? why?

Hi JFH Apologies for the delay. If you get a microlight rating in the U/K which you include with your UK JAA licence you can fly microlights in Ireland without restriction. Otherwise. If you get a microlight sign off in your log book then neither the NMAI or for that matter the IAA can find anything...

Re: PPL(A) but cant fly a 3-axis in Ireland? why?

Hi JFH We have gotten several answers to this question from the IAA and the CAA. My understanding is that you can do either of two things to allow you to fly an EI reg microlight in Ireland. 1. Get a microlight rating entered on your UK licence. 2. Get a microlight sign off from a UK microlight scho...

Re: RT licence

Hi Hedgehopper Look in the public forums section on the NMAI website. You should find a talking ebook that is quite useful. It is available for free download courtesy of the NMAI and EMF.I think it is about 9mb to download. The NMAI and IAA have reached an agreement that any of our members who do th...

Re: 1 hour 20 minutes

Hi gyropilot Post was designed to encourage people to get out flying, not rub it in. But any way , here goes. Fuel, maintenance and insurance, total cost about €40 per hour at 85 knots. 80 horsepower Land Africa not as thirsty, say about €8 per hour less. You lose about 5 knots but will still take o...

1 hour 20 minutes

Hi All 1 hour 20 minutes today was all it took to remind me why we love what we do. Beware the fog and airframe and carb icing. Take off performance much degraded due 10 inches of snow. The country has never looked as well or as strange. Navigation is even a lot more difficult But above all, enjoy i...

When things couldn't get any worse

Hi ALL
When you think things couldn't get any worse.
Spare a thought for the Chilean miner who only realised yesterday that he had forgotten to clock in.

Re: GAR form abolition...anyone ?

Hi all Please sign the online petitition at www.tinyurl.com/gars-end Please also note that the UK special branch have contacted the IAA to complain about not recieving GAR forms from Irish pilots. This is hardly surprising. My own experience of this is that the fax number on the GAR form for both Ha...
