Re: Skyranger 912S for sale

Thanks guys, I have made a 180 on my decision to sell G-UPTA. I flew yesterday in 30-40 mph westerly winds, through squally showers and thermals for 4 hours and 35 minutes. I flew to Frenchpark via the Tullamore agricultural show, then visited the Enniskillen Flyin and flew up to the new Finn Valley...

Flying is getting very expensive.

I flew up to the Flyin in Cooley yesterday, first flying over my house in Navan and flying over the Rowing boat making it's way into Drogheda harbour, held a pattern there until I was joined by 5 other microlights and we welcomed the rowers home from their trek across the Irish Sea from the Isle of ...

Re: Galway Airport. Avoid Avoid

That is shocking carry on, I have always avoided Galway because of similar stories. There is no excuse, an emergency is an emergency, whether it is caused by Weather or Engine trouble, and no fee should ever be charged. I know of a fellow Irish Microlighter whom was Touring the UK a couple of years ...

Re: NMAI and Flying In Ireland Fly-in Clonbullogue 2011 Photos

Thanks Higgie, I actually had a fantastic 3 day flying holiday in my little Pegasus XL 462 EI-ELV logging 17 hours and 30 minutes, and including fuel, taxi's, evening meals and pints I still had change out of 300 euro's. That's what flying on a shoe string is all about, affordable and puts a huge che...

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

We completed the Mizen to Malin safe and sound. 12 aircraft took part, with 7 aircraft making the Mizen to Malin in one day. Thanks to all whom took part, thanks to all the Airfield owners and Operators along the way. I will write up a report on the trip soon. Pictures from my Camera linked below. h...

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

The predicted winds from a few days ago have died off, meaning that a front which was due to come in over the country on Saturday now will not come over until Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Winds are looking very light for Friday, as in the leaves on the tree's will hardly move, only about ...

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

Well metcheck are giving winds of over 200 mph for Friday and Saturday, not sure my XL could cope with those winds too well. Today is amazing. I think we can make a call tomorrow evening. Friday looks like it will be ok with light winds from the south. We could try getting down like Henry said to Ba...

Re: Mini Max

Hi Nosedive, There would be no problem building a MiniMax and registering it through the NMAI. The NMAI has plenty of very good Inspectors, some whom have come through the ranks as Aircraft Mechanics and Engineers in the Aer Corps and Airlines. They can inspect all stage builds and sign off. Many of...

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

Hello all, Just two weeks to go now and the only thing we can't plan for is the weather. I would first of all like to thank all the Airfield owners and operators for all their help and assistance in planning this event. As you already know the plan is to run the event over 3 days, starting with flyi...

Great news Mark,

I look forward to stopping in on the Sunday on our way back from the Malin to Mizen trip. I will make sure there is a crowd with me. We will hopefully be very tired and very happy.

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

Not far off now. I have just been looking at the route. For the Saturday we will be looking at a total distance of around 340 miles if flying a straight line, which of course will not happen. Total flying time at a cruise speed of 50 mph should be around 7 hours, but realistically will be a little m...
