Hi folks, Thanks for your replies. I phoned the IAA today - they said I there is no obligation to change from National licence to JAA. They said I could fly a plane abroad as long as it was Day-time VFR. No night time allowed (I don't have night rating but even if I did it would not allowed - didn't...

Do I ned to convert IAA PPL to JAA Licence?

Thanks Mr. Crow,

That makes sense - Robin 400's are supposed to be nice to fly. Must see if I can fit in the time to have a spin in one the next time I'm in the capital. Must check Skytrace web site for rates.

Cheers,

?? New Planes at NFC

Hi Folks, Just a quick question - a friend of a friend took an intro flight with National Flight Centre about 2 months ago and reckons that the instructor told him that the plane was brand new (purchased a few months previous). I haven't seen anything on this site about this - just wondering if they...

Thanks Folks for your replies. Hi Elmariachi, I think that confusslement is spreading - I am aware that if you use carb heat that it should be left on for 15 seconds or so. What I was trying to say was that I engage the Carb heat (out of habit) but then returned it to cold ASAP before all went silen...

Thanks Folks, It's good to get a feedback on this question. Hi Elmariachi, it was about 12 months ago that the instructor informed me about the carb heater. I asked him what reasons there are for holding off on using it except when pulling the power to idle - he said he didn't know the reason but wh...

Carb Icing

Hi Folks, I have done most of my flying in Cessna 172's and 150's (with Continental engines) and I have been used to pulling on Carb Heat when doing down-wind checks, FREDA checks (every 15 mins on a cross-country), reducing engine RPM's below around 1700 RPM,s etc. Lately, I took a flight in a Pipe...

Hi Folks, I was just wondering has anyone heard from Wings Ireland lately? I subscribed a number of weeks ago - have not received any magazine yet. Money deducted from Credit Card but no goods. Also, tried phoning Mobile phone nmber given for editor - number not in service. Tried phoning land line t...
