Go-arounds are pretty common, usually aren't too serious. I can't say much for debris (such as animals) on the runway but its not too rare either.

Someone posted this video on a forum yesterday of a RYR G/A at DUB yesterday..

Also guys, by getting a PPL in the US, returning to Ireland are schools reluctant to hiring out planes to US PPLs? I know NFC you need to do some familiarisation training with them, but how many hours are required? Anyone with any personal experience of that? I will be doing a few lessons with NFC b...

Thanks for the info Lambada, much appreciated. Had a look at the EIN fares alright - no chance for that price. Looks like theyre just trying to screw families over going to Disneyland etc. They might just be reviewing fares though and putting them at max until they decide what the average is. I chec...

Some questions though: - Id be looking to go over during the summer (June/July/August/September). Is it risky weather-wise with Hurricane seaso...

I kind of liked the glossy paper more, but to be honest it doesnt matter once the content maintains its standard! :)

Another great issue! Cheers Mark, and good luck to the rest of the lads helping out in the New Year.

Had loads of copies in Easons on O Connell Street yesterday. Looks nice, have to get into some good Xmas reading now.

On a picky note, was it printed on less-glossy paper this month? :)

Hi guys, Received a reply from one of the organisers who thanked for the offer, but said the 2008 show is definitely off. The funding has exceeded the grants given to them by the council/Failte Ireland in the past few years so they had to make the decision to call next year's show off. At this stage...

I would be more than happy to set up a website with an online petition / donations or whatever to get the airshow back and running. It really would be a shame to see it go under!

On a serious note, is there anything we can do to try get the airshow back up and running?

ie. petition / campaigning to the Galway Council for more funding / other companies etc?

Would be a shame just to accept it wont be back next year.

dhblewis, I notice you're in Dalkey. If you're thinking of getting an aircraft and some hangerage, it might be worth your shot getting in touch with Eric Hopkins of Newcastle (EINC), Co. Wicklow. Activity is very very scarce at EINC and Im not even sure if the runway is useable anymore (it certainly...
