The IHL website has a photo of the upper half of the fuselage of EI-ILS. Not sure if it carries the Commissioners of Irish Lights badge though. 500 Fan. I dont belive it does,- yet, the Irish Helicopters logo seems to be where the CIL logo would have been. Does the offshore ec135 still have the ADE...

If this thread has strayed from the original topic than that is my fault, with my request for photos of the past IHL fleet. I have just read that IHL are under contract to commence operation of the EC135 for the Commissioner for Irish Lights on the 1st of December this year so its arrival must be i...

Hoss, you are probably correct about this going off-topic. If I get a few photos of the EC135 I'll post them here. If anything new comes up about Irish Helicopters Ltd, I'll start a new thread. 500 Fan. Well all that has been discussed has been about and to do with Irish helicopters but I am renown...

By some kind of an uncanny coincidence, there is a brief article on the Mountjoy Prison Break from Halloween 1973 in the current issue of the 'Garda review' magazine that a friend has shown me. A black and white photograph accompanies the article. It shows Irish Helicopters' Alouette II, EI-AWC, in...

Thanks for that bladecrack, I thought as much, suppose i ve a few decisons to make in the next couple weeks. I do think you should bear in mind that over recent years with the celtic tiger phenomenon there was a massive boom in helicopters entering the country, I imagine the current scene is quiet ...

It's great to see so much interest in IHL. Here are a few links to a couple of photos of some of the past fleet; m The 'Papal' Bell 212 from 1981 with the Papal Crest still on the engine fairing. m Same helicopter in slightly different markings in 1988. m Here is Bell 212 EI-BAM in 1977. m The shor...

Hi Bolkow, Would you by any chance have a date for the appearence of Alouette 2 EI-AUI at Croke Park. Would love to see the pic of it there. Hugo. Here's another photo of an older IHL BO-105, this time their first one, EI-AWB in all-yellow! Scroll down the page a little and you'll see it (It's actually the second yellow BO-105 photo on that page). m I think this might have been the only yellow helicopter that Irish Helicopters operated. Here is a link to an article on the Mountjoy Prison Break; m Thankfully, those bad ole days appear to be gone. 500 Fan. hhMMM, I see the erticle states it was an alouette 2, and I guess the press report could be incorrect. The Mountjoy prison break was carried out by a hijacked Alouette II. Thompson Boyes was the pilot unlucky to be flying that day. Again the pilot and helicopter were released after the assigned 'task' was completed. Not sure which of the two IHL Alouette IIs was involved in this particular incident....

500 fan that is apic I have never seen before of old BLD but she was quite young whne that was taken, I know when she arrived from germany to begin Irish Helicopters service she had a mere 600 hours on her. You can see from the pic how pristine she still looked back then.
