anybody know what the difference is between a Doppler VOR and the other VOR type(s) that are in use? Presume it has some advantages over earlier VOR types/designs?

Don't forget all heavy maintenance on the A330's is done during the quiet winter months.

At least one A330 aircraft will be away on maintenance at any given time -therefore utilization of the remaining fleet will continue to be high over this period.
