I just got a call from a friend of mine about it. The names havnt been released yet as far as can tell but it indeed was one of the NFC instructors and his student. I know the instructor in question, a very nice guy who gave me my 2nd solo check ride. I was told that the aircraft was EI-CHM. Lets le...

Delta Romeo - Does your diabetes mean you have to have a so-called "safety pilot" with you all the time when flying? I think, under the CAA rules anyway, you can either fly solo or, if you have to take a passenger, that passenger must have a PPL or more. If I want to fly 'solo' I must have a PPL or...

DJ

Wings clipped last year after becoming a diabetic!

No more flying for me, and before anyone gives me the 'ah you can still fly speech' its no fun having to have someone with you all the time!

Before I get shot to pieces over this suggestion, just take it on board and give some sensible responses! For the new Aer Lingus long haul, why dont they go back to a mixture of 747's? Apart from the design being old, what exactly wrong with this aircraft. 747-400's and a combination of 747LRs, etc....

With the exception of cityjet, who else uses the 146 in Ireland? 95k for a 146 type rating is expensive! Does Astreaus still do the scheme with them and you end up with 200 hours on a 737?

You are probably right, not a lot of people would have experience of both clubs. But at the end of the day, it comes down to money and how much the PTC charge, which when I went to find out, was quite a lot. My experience of PTC is one that feels quite stuffy! However Brian and George at WAC are 2 g...

Most of the comments started here about facilities in Weston. However I did comment about the great school in Waterford. Now if Im an SPL, with a full time day job (have to pay for the flying), and I live in Dublin, why the hell would I want to go to Limerick or Clare?! Im sure you all have great sc...

Just in relation to FI's, I have nothing personal against them at all! They all want a job flying the big jets! Unlike any other job, you never have to give notice with flying schools. And for the record, the reason why my friends instructor wasnt available, was that he was 'too busy' not gone to th...

Nice to see NFC hasnt got a bashing on this thread yet, so I'll do it! As a former student of NFC, I got pissed off being bumped to instructors without any notice. I have a friend who booked 2 weeks of flying with one instructor. 10 days flying in a row so that he could complete his hours, re-do his...

Ive heard some bullshit in my life but this has to be the worst! As a former user of Weston the main problem i had during the summer would be kids in the housing estate just to the left of the 25 threshold flying kite that came dangerously close to inboud a/c.

Going back to the subject of goings on at EIWT. I was out last week and appalled to see that the circuit has changed yet again. Take off on 25, 100-150ft up, early right turnout off the lake!!! What do you do in the event of an engine failure!?!?! You're right over a lake and factory! You be screwed!!
