It's all very well having a jet runway, but does the airport itself have the facilities to handle 189 people from a 738 coming through in one burst ? I know there have been times when there have been 2 or 3 schelduled Arann's in at a go, but turn that into 2 or 3 738's and the like and see what hap...

The extensions came in 1992/3 ish as I remember they were something to do with performance issues with Manx Airlines Jetstream 41's

The runway got a complete resurface in 1998.

The government funding should be announced in the next two weeks. Hopefully a Jet runway is no the way ?

Lambada Crazy you need to add a few years to your 15 year estimate, I take it you did not get a christmas card, its celebrating 25 years of scheduled operations with Avair flying a shorts 330/360 in 1981.

Also FlyU should be making an official announcement early in the new year.

Point Taken ladjet, but if he/she was 5 ft above the ground he could cut the seatbelt and climb out, if he was 30ft in the air, i would much rather have my legs injured from jumping out of the aircraft then for the plane to slip the branches whilst inverted and the impact forces the roof to compact...
