Fuel Prices

Hi All. I have been doing a bit of travelling around the country recently and have noticed a large difference between different FBO's fuel prices. Accordingly I thought if we could put together a topic on Fuel Prices around the country we might bring some value to the GA scene. All one needs to do i...

Re: Staff sit-in at Galway Airport

Again, maybe we in GA could help to maintain some sort of activity by paying Galway a visit. It would be an awful shame to see this facility go down the tubes. An Honourable idea and it would have merit if applied to most other airports in Ireland however, Galway is the exception. There were never ...

Re: Landing Fees

Jim. With respect, Do you not feel that as a promoter of AOPA you should " name and shame" the airfield that overcharged the aforementioned parties rather than all the cloak and dagger stuff thats going on here, Surly one would be acting in the best interests of there members by naming and shaming i...

Re: Irish Aviation Authority

Anthony. I have seen first hand the length of time that the IAA Aero medical section takes to return calls and handle letters. It’s nothing short of a thundering disgrace and would not be tolerated in the “real world”. As you stated in your earlier post, there are no faces to contact which makes the...

Re: Cessna Rigging Expert/Split Costs Visit

Camshaft. I think you have a nerve making a post so personal, If one trolls back through your own posts, the reoccurring theme is that of knocking people, clubs and maintenance organisations. The question was asked if anybody would like to spilt costs regarding bringing in an expert to re-rig an air...

Re: Helicopter forced to make emergency landing

If it's the one I saw lift from B'sloe yesterday evening I'm not at all surprised that a precautionary landing was required. David. Do tell........ and before people start moaning that we should wait until the AAIU complete there investigation, trial by forum etc etc....I'm only asking why a precau...

Re: Class 1 medical

It takes between 1 and two weeks to get an appointment so no major drama. The medical itself takes 4-6 hours and you'll get all the details about what standards required on the Iaa website. (Although the JAR site is better) The contact details are : AeroMedical Centre, Mater Private Hospital, Eccles...

Re: Galway Airport. Avoid Avoid

I cant say I'm surprised to be honest. My experiences with Galway have been nothing but horrible. They have no interest in GA and make that quite clear, as seen in the past with there " navigation fee". Sorry for your troubles Cub but I wouldnt expect any less from an over subsidised underworked sem...

Re: 50/100 Hr & CofA Rates

Guys thanks very much for all your replies, both very informative and useful however without putting too fine a point on it would it be possible that some aircraft owners would be so kind as to post there recent experiences here please ? I dont want to know the in-and-outs of the bill but I'd be ver...

Re: 50/100 Hr & CofA Rates

Is it just me or is there ZERO transparency in the pricing of aircraft maintenance in Ireland. From an outsiders perspective the whole maintenance issue appears to be a black art with figures being plucked out of the air with people getting whopping big bills and saying nothing about them. Surely in...
