Re: Galway Zone

So, can anyone confirm that it re-opened? (No more closure NOTAM to be found...)

Re: Galway Zone

Jep, fingers crossed. However, the closure NOTAM has just been extended until mid July...

Anyone from either Rathcoole, Bantry or Abbeyfeale around here? In case, please PM. Thank you.

Aeroclub at Kerry EIKY?

Am I right to fear that there is no aeroclub or other resident GA activity at EIKY now?

I will be in that area in the beginning of March and if possible would like to bimble around the southwest for an hour or two, with an instructor.

Thanks,
Phil

Re: Galway Airport

The good news is that from April onwards the airport will be open every weekend. :) Thank you. Indeed I just received the same info via email from the airport management. Still somewhat restricted opening times on weekends (1100-1600), but of course much better than nothing. Also, parking charges f...

Re: No more Duty free fuel in Sligo EISG

But does that apply only to Sligo or does it mean that duty free Avgas has gone away (or will shortly go away) from all Irish airports?

Re: Galway Airport

Thank you. Sounds like good news indeed. However, at least for the moment, the biggest problem remains: the airport is closed on weekends. This makes the airport basically useless for visiting GA pilots looking for a day out or even a long weekend in the Galway area. Are there any hopes of the airpo...

Re: Ireland trip

In order to solve the insurance issues, what they should do is introduce an out-of-hours permit also for non-based aircraft, just as argyll & bute council as well as HIAL in scotland do.

Re: Customs/Immigration, Fuel

Well, just back from my flight, which involved N.I. --> Ireland and thereafter Ireland --> Channel Islands. Whilst I sent the relevant gar's all with loads of prior notice, I really didn't quite undertand how the system works or how it is supposed to work. i left my contact telephone number on all g...

Re: Customs/Immigration, Fuel

William, thank you first of all for the effort on the Ireland Guide. Nice work. Re the GAR form, it really does not make much sense to me though... Why should I send it to customs? When coming over from Europe, it should be immigration that is interested, but not customs...all is it all one agency i...

Customs/Immigration, Fuel

So, as I am further planning my trip to Ireland, I wonder i someone could help me with a few "technical" questions. 1. Customs/Immigration: I have read all I could find on the subject of customs/immigration when flying to Ireland, but didn't find much useful (most of the stuff is on UK requirements)...
