"The light aircraft crash landed into a field near an air strip on the edge of the town." Why do the press have refer to it as a crash landing. From the report it sounds like they made a forced landing , which of course as pilots we are all trained to do. sorry just one of my pet hates any...

"purchaser can buy either version but will get four charts on two sheets of paper covering the Shannon FIR" it would have been better if they were on separate sheets especially when used in the cockpit. what do you do if your flying from point A on one chart to point B on the other chart, ...

a daily Notam briefing is available on the IAA website, which also includes notams for the UK for the period of the briefing.

http://www.iaa.ie/safe_reg/notam.asp

and all current notams can be got from the EAD website,

http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/eadcms/e ... x.php.html

this website is a lot more user friendly now and i have had no problems using it.

Re: Interesting youtube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BmsRmfFYTA Very high nose attitude, stretching the glide. You can't stretch the glide. If your gliding at 65kts and you try and glide at a slower speed your going to fall short likewise gliding at a faster speed will steepen the glide. from the video it's very hard t...

If you'll excuse the pun they were literally "seconds from disaster". A few seconds later and they might have made the runway without any damage to the aircraft ,a few seconds earlier and things would have been a whole lot worse.

Thank god every one got safely.
