IAA Aviation Policy Conference.

Does anyone know if there will be any GA reps at the Conference on Aviation Policy to be held by the IAA in Dublin on 2nd December? Attendance is by invitation only . Just curious to see if they have ignored us again ??? maybe not. However the list of speakers would suggest that yet again they will ...

Re: FAA PPL / EASA PPL

Maybe the solution is to follow the CAA rules. Fly away and if the IAA want to explain the above 'mess' to the Judge let them ...................................bet they don't even try

Re: Mabey more bad news for Galway

JFH it is a lot easier than you state. The only thing that is required to operate GA from any strip is the permission from the owner. I have been operating in and out of strips for over 30 years with only the landowners permission (there are loads of private unlicensed strips around). I agree its a ...

Re: Mabey more bad news for Galway

The future is actually quite good for Inishbofin. all it needs is a windsock and permission from the owner (us) 'to land at our own discression'. a licence and all of the other expensive stuff is only necessary for commercial activity. Not needed for GA at all. Cleggan.........well the same there al...

Re: Aran Islands

I wonder why he is doing that. Who asked him? An aircraft landing on a runway very odd indeed. Should not be tolerated. Anyways the last time my buddy landed there he got permission from a fella .............honest guv !!! from another owner of the airfield, also a tax payer. Not in writing, no one ...

Galway Airport.

Looks like Galway airport is now closed to all at weekends other than the local flying club. no doubt the owners will use the insurance story to defend the closure to all others. however lots of airports in other countries are 'user discretion' and work quite well. would that be an option for Galway...

However there is no avgas (see notams) nearest avgas in Birr or Galway (mid week only). landing fee is about €20 (memory). youll be with the tower from the zone boundary so very simple. good food in the main terminal. dont t...

Re: Support Erinagh Airfield

I wonder how much of the Tax Payers money has been wasted by the planning authority on this case. i have written to the local Labour TD (he helped the locals to stir the poo in the early days of this case) several times but surprise surprise i have not even had the manners of a reply!!! However the ...

Re: IAA Ban Foreign registered homebuilts and classics

as i said before lads this 'ban' on foreign aircraft is not compliant with EU free movement rules. if your microlight is allowed to operate in any EU country then the powers that be cant stop you. that is the law lads and the IAA cant ignore EU treaties. take the case of a car or HGV if they are per...

Re: IAA Ban Foreign registered homebuilts and classics

they do not need a reason the IAA have always been unanswerable to anyone and they play the safety card to ward off any opposition. it would seem to me that 'banning' foreigh registered aircraft is ultra vires their powers and against all EU treaties where the free movement of citizens and capital i...

Re: Irish Aviation Authority

why not ask them at the next fly in? they are always in attendance, invited or not (ususlly not) but then there are expenses for them to attend etc. etc. and freebees for the kids. no point in complaining to the Ministers office as i have done they will just point you back to IAA. but if you think i...
