Re: Personal accident insurance for PPLs?

Thanks StrikeCommand - very useful stuff. Was your policy an add-on to the aircraft policy? I've noticed that depending on your insurer or broker you can add on a protection policy sometimes, but in other cases if the broker/insurer does not have your aircraft policy business they won't quote for a ...

Personal accident insurance for PPLs?

As many probably know already (although it was news to me up until recently), if you have your own aircraft and insurance it usually covers the aircraft, third parties and passengers in the event of an accident. In most cases the PIC is not covered by the insurance for injury or death. This is the c...

Re: Adding PPL(M) onto a PPL(A) Licence

Mixturerich, I have a three axis microlight rating added to my JAR PPL, so I have an SEP and the microlight rating. The microlight rating requires 5 hours training and a skills test at the end. You're correct about the hours requirement - a bit of a pain. I have my rating interleaved, so they're out...

Advice on aircraft selection for a group

I'm in the process of looking at forming/joining a group and would be very interested in hearing the advice of others on the forum. I've a PPL with SEP and Three Axis microlight ratings. If I were to pick one rating to maintain it would be the SEP. On that basis (and trying to get something approach...

Club/Group Booking and Payment Systems

I'm interested in hearing what groups and clubs are currently using to manage their bookings and payments, whether online or otherwise. What do you like about your current system, what do you hate and what would you like to see in your ideal system? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the c...

Thanks for the replies guys - nice to see a balanced response. I completely see where you're coming from 121 - no point if it's not perfect. I have two siblings that have had it done with great results but they're not flyers, so no issues. A number of non-flying colleagues have had it done and a cou...

Laser surgery and PPLs

Anyone any stories good/bad/ugly in relation to laser surgery and PPLs?

I always ask my AME about it when it comes to renewing my Class 2 and it gets more encouraging each time, but I'm interested to hear if anyone has had issues getting airborne again after going for Lasik or any other procedure.
