Re: Irish Helicopters Ltd. : Fleet colours.

The stripes on the Alouette III are definitely dark green. Can't remember off the top of my head about reg, but I do have a good colour photo of it. I will dig it up when I am back at home. I will also check out the reg on the Bell 212's. Incidentally, there was at least one Bolkow that had a green...

Re: Irish Helicopters Ltd. : Fleet colours.

Hugo, thanks for that. It is very hard to tell if the letters and stripes are green or black. The stripes certainley have a hint of green to them but the lettering is hard to decifer. They could be black but as you say, it would make more sense if they were dark green. Thanks as well for the link to...

Irish Helicopters Ltd. : Fleet colours.

I'm doing a little research into the colours of the Irish Helicopters fleet. Most of the helicopters I am interested in date from the sixties, seventies and eighties. So if anyone can help with the following, I would really appreciate it. 1. Can anyone confirm if the markings on the Alouette II EI-A...

Here is a link to a few photos of the helicopter that toured the country last week ( I posted them before seeing this thread); m I think the plan is to have three BO-105s covering most of the country. Funding is the big hurdle to overcome, of course. The car insurance companies and the drinks compan...

A.I.A.A. Bolkow photos.

Here are a few photos (taken at the Kilashee House Hotel in Naas) of the BO-105 CBS operated by Bond and used last week to publicise the proposed All-Ireland Air Ambulance service. If they can get the hoped-for funding, they plan to have three Bolkows situated in Ireland to provide a VFR Air Ambulan...

IHL BO-105 in Pink Panther film.

The film 'The Pink Panther strikes again' was on TV on Christmas Eve and there is a scene in it where a prisoner escapes from a train by hanging onto the underside of a helicopter. The helicopter used was none other than Irish Helicopters' BO-105 EI-AWB. It carried the fake registration F-AWAX. The ...

Yea, she has been out and about doing some training flights. The pilots have visited many of the lighthouses around the coast to allow the lighthouse crews become familiar with this new machine. Don't know how many hours are on it though. She officially started work with the CIL today. The Bolkows a...

I'm not sure but I think the different S-61s are passed around from base to base as they go through overhauls. I think CHC have a total of six S-61Ns in Ireland. Four are full-spec SAR machines while two are maintenance relief machines. EI-CNL might be a maintenance relief machine still. It was in 2...

The 'Scannal' documentary last night was quite interesting, with a small bit of footage of all the helicopters involved. For those who didn't see the programme, there was some interesting footage of the Alouette II used in the Mountjoy Prison Break as well as a short shot of EI-AWB, the BO-105 hijac...

SAR Training in Galway Bay, 09/11/2008.

A Coastguard Sikorsky S-61N, EI-SAR, was doing a bit of training over Galway Bay on Sunday last with a small RIB. The winchman was winched up and down a couple of times and the helicopter also did a low fly-by of the promenade at Salthill and I managed to get a few photos. http://i306.photobucket.co...

Scannal: RTE1, Monday nights, 7:30. Mountjoy Prison Break.

There is an upcoming episode of the new series of 'Scannal' that will feature the story behind the 1973 break-out from Mountjoy Prison using a hijacked helicopter. As previously mentioned, Irish Helicopters were the unfortunate company targeted for this incident with their Alouette II EI-AWC used. I...

Here is a link to a photo of EI-ILS. No CIL badge on it, yet. It's quite a nice scheme though.
