Re: IAA Plan to Lower the Base of Controlled Airspace!

I know that I ask for 10k when crossing the Irish Sea and usually get it. This is generally the only time I look for this sort of altitude to give me the greatest gliding distance should all go quiet

How much flying have you done?

How much flying have you done in the last 3 months? How much would you do in a normal 3 month period? Do you do this GA or Microlight or Rotary wing?

Re: looking for Shares/ private rental

The nice thing about having your own aircraft is that you can get yourself to where the weather is fine. Mind you it can be handy to have an IR rating when it comes to Irish weather! Your next big hurdle will be to find the time for your adventures

Re: looking for Shares/ private rental

Hi Martins, I am part of a lively group that is taking new members. We fly a c172 out of Weston. You're welcome to join me for a flight in it if you wish on Sunday. Last year a group of us flew it to Spain and back I learned as much on that trip as I have in my flying lifetime. The rates are OK ther...

Re: Setting Up Own airfield

Agree about EINC, it's a nice airfield with friendly atmosphere. It would be the first place that I'd want to visit. How is an environmental impact done? From a planning point of view anyone can get planning permission not just the owner. The problem is what do you need for planning permission to ge...

Setting Up Own airfield

What would it take to set up your own airfield? I don't own land for this so would have to rent some space preferably in north Wicklow, South Dublin. Is this a realistic dream? I suppose 500m of grass would be more than sufficient, in fact 300m would be enough but I like the idea of extra in case th...

Newcastle

Is there any flying happening in Newcastle, particularly training? I have gone down to have a look a couple of times in the last while but have found the place locked up.

These Issues

Sorry I haven't gotten back about this. But I have been away for a while. Getting back to the subject, If you have a british licence I understand that you can fly a German registered version of the same aircraft. There is a school in Spain that is recognised by the BMAA using one. But if I bought on...

Importing Aircraft

If someone buys a German registered microlight and brings it to Ireland can it operate under the German weight restrictions or does this change to the Irish? Does it have to be re-registered? Can it be flown on a german or english nPPL(m)?

Cheap to fly aircraft

Very interesting about the sportcruizer. Is this a Kit or a built aircraft? Is it a VLA? How much does it cost? Unfortunately I am not in Waterford but read a review recently and it got a lot of praise.
