Re: irish atc on strike
Yep the vanman is correct, for the last few years dublins airspace gets designated class G so the boys and girls down in shannon info look after it. So no flight plan or clearance required amongst other things!! So yeah you can just fly around do a few rolls in the moth if you have one, the only thi...

Re: Engine failure....
Good coverage. The road seems a popular choice as a forced landing site in the states. Their was very good one caught on a police car camera a few years ago of a warbird landing. I haven't quite decided whether landing with or against the traffic flow is best despite the advice of always landing wit...

Re: irish atc on strike
Now the bit that isnt related to the IR problems and which has become a side issue.Technology. Now there is only one person throwing their uneducated opinions around here on something that is obvious they have very little understanding of. As for Jim casting doubt on my Rt technique let me assure yo...

Re: irish atc on strike
Nosedive: No indication but in all likelyhood not until September 2010 at the earliest if at all in 2010 as i believe there are 24 students just started down in Shannon. 30+ students have just checked out or are about to and there are 20+ direct entries as well. Having said that tho there is a signi...

Re: irish atc on strike
PArt deux. Jim and iaopa as for your incredible lack of understanding yet huge interest in technology and sytems and procedures that will have little or no impact on GA in IReland is fascinating. I got to ask why are you spending so much time and apparently money too by jetting off trips to portugal...

Re: irish atc on strike
Good man Jim@Iaopa keep talking and writing and digging that hole. If you claim to represent GA in Ireland my you have a lot to learn. That includes a lot of the basics taught at PPL level. Jim my posts were never an overt support gaining exercise just a rebalancing of the lies and spin and falsehoo...

Re: irish atc on strike
Jim@Aopa apology accepted and no hard feelings. Your statement that said by taking a certain stance you were garnering favour with the IAA which would stand you in good stead later was what led me to a certain conlusion along with the repeating of the lies and aggro that the IAA spin doctors were sp...

Re: irish atc on strike
Thank you. The iaa make 15 million pure profit every year while charging the lowest or second lowest in Europe. If the iaa chareged what the uk charge the profit would be 85 million a year. If the staff do extra work that enhances that profitability then why shouldn't they share in it ?? If those st...

Re: irish atc on strike
IF your colleagues and friends who have wifes, kids mortgages to pay got sent home with no pay for no good reason you would do what you had to do to get them back. For that reason alone, to answer your question, yes. It is the honourable thing to do in the last defense of yourself and your colleague...

Re: irish atc on strike
Jim @ AOPA shame on you. You really have been taken hook line and sinker by the IAA. If you are the impartial ,even handed, inquiring sort who claims to represent GA in Ireland then you have been sold a pup by IAA. You have your own agenda which is fair enough, but by taking sides, showing a complete i...

Ifty, how do you know I haven't already started the ground work on this? In case you havent noticed canvassing fellow flyers who might be grateful of this one day is indeed a first step so no need to get your knickers in a twist mate! The fact of the matter is that aopa and nasrav are not effective....

Very good suggestion............does anyone know who the best person would be to get in contact with in the IAA regards this?.Which dept even? I know the IAA dont charge to land anywhere or charge for their atc service to vfr traffic or indeed ifr below a certain weight but if you could get a letter...
