Re: Pilot Magazine March 2014

Hi William, Hope all is good with you. Yes indeed I do miss G-UPTA, it was a fantastic Airplane and I had some great trips in it. However I miss flying more. Nothing like 2 small kids at home to keep one grounded. I had to get rid of G-UPTA as I was flying less than 30 hours a year, split between an...

Pilot Magazine March 2014

So there I was in Heathrow Airport yesterday evening after spending a day on Business in London looking through Aviation Magazines for my flight home, when I saw something familiar on the front cover of Pilot Magazine. The Skyranger G-UPTA which I once owned was playing the star role in this months ...

Re: General info needed by experienced ppl(m) holder

I can only speak from my own experience. I started my NPPL(M) in Kernan Aviation just outside Tandragee in Co. Armagh in Sept 2005. I had my licence in 5 months. I know it is a long way for you to travel to, but they offer intensive training where you could go up for a week once the weather window i...

Re: Anyone going to the NEC for the Flying Show?

Great stuff Mark, Just printed out my Tickets. I'll be tired, I have to bring a few customers out in Dublin tomorrow night and then get the Red Eye flight on Saturday morning. So I will badly need that coffee. I am flying out from Dublin at 6.30am, so if your over that early too we can meet for Brek...

Anyone going to the NEC for the Flying Show?

Hello,

Are any of you going to the NEC in Birmingham this weekend for the Flying Show?
I am looking forward to it and will be going over on Saturday.

Re: AAIU Reports

Here is another one closer to home. As long as people think it's ok to buy an un-airworthy machine from eBay and just give it a go for the craic we will unfortunately see reports like this. Thankfully the gentleman involved was uninjured, but he could have killed himself and others. http://www.irish...

Re: AAIU Reports

Please see below a link to another Microlight forum which is very timely in relation to this thread. No one here Lynn is trying to lecture you, we are just offering advice. The poor fellow involved in the accident in the Link below was offered loads of friendly advice too, he decided to ignore it an...

Re: AAIU Reports

The history of the NMAI and their ongoing battle with the IAA to facilitate the proper training of both Weightshift and 3-Axis Microlight Pilots in Ireland is a long drawn out saga of more than 20 years and as yet is still unresolved. However the IAA in fairness do recognise the BMAA and UK Syllabus...

Re: AAIU Reports

Hello Lynn, Assuming that you are genuine and not pulling the piss in relation to teaching yourself to fly a flexwing, I have to agree 100% with stovepipe. Whilst your reading accident reports, also check out an accident report from the UK AAIU where a guy tried to teach himself how to to fly a Weig...

Re: C42 Hire in Ireland

Your hilarious Jonkil, You already have a fantastic little plane. Just get the Flash 2 Alpha up and running again. Finish your conversion and you'll never look back. Do it before the end of February. No fun flying at 200 mph. A trip from Donegal to Kerry would be a local hop, you could take off at 9...

Cheers Stovepipe,

I'd forgotten that I wrote it. I enjoyed seeing it in the mag too, it was over a year since I wrote it. Have not flown my little XL since last July. I'm really looking forward to getting back up in again soon.

Re: Malin to Mizen Head

Hello John,

The plan so far for next year is to fly my little bimbling 2 stroke beauty all the way over to Spamfield in Cromer next summer. A group of us are going to attempt it. Your more than welcome to join us either at the start point or along the way.

Damien.
