For anyone attending the Kilkenny Airfield fly-in this month I have some news for you. The fly-in is on Sunday 24th with all activity planned for this day. There will be some vintage cars, some food (private catering van I hear), some aircraft, some tales etc. I expect the main hangar will be cleare...

Well you have to hand it to enterprising landowners in Offaly. We now have a new proposal for a regional/international airport this time near Portarlington. From Portlarlington to the world.... A third group has emerged this week in yet another bid to build a Midlands international airport - this ti...

There is also a brief note on PPRUNE too. Corny joke about it not being a Mayday call. There are however, many splinter groups of aviators within Ireland. The majority of these have visions of Authority and Leadership. But they lack the main ingredients. The above quote from their site vexes me also...

Just thought I would bring Willo's comment from the start of the year back into play. The last few days seems to have brought people out again. The FII forum set a record for the most users ever online of '69' on Fri 18th April 10:24.

Before someone answers your actual questions did you spot on the news that both the Gardai and the Defence Forces have been put on a recruitment and promotion embargo for an undefinite period of time? This could be for several years. Naturally if you are still in school then this is of less immediat...

Thanks OTN, By approach speed control I was thinking of aircraft without flaps. I was not really thinking of doing all training on vintage types but just thinking that if a portion of training early-on was set aside on tailwheel types it would serve as a good platform. Keeping the head out of the co...

Air Show for Tramore
Just thought it would be worth mentioning this event here. It seems that if €80,000 can be found then there is every opportunity of an airshow in the Southeast and certainly a first for Tramore.

Conversion of Licences
I came across this page describing fairly comprehensively requirements for validation/conversion of licences (down to PPL) that some people may find useful. It summarises 10 different conversions. Not sure if there are additional limitations imposed by the IAA.
