Night VFR approved in Shannon FIR - but nowhere has lights
As I'm sure a lot of you are aware, Night VFR outside a CTZ has been approved. https://www.iaa.ie/index.jsp?p=100&n=107&a=406&pp=414&nn=599&lID=1126 The only problem is, is that nowhere has runway lights apart from the regionals (Sligo, Knock, Waterford, Kerry etc.), Newtonards and Enniskillen Airpo...

Re: Weston closed Thurs & Fri
Can they not get another ATC guy in like Knock have done in the past? Or just operate without ATC like Abbeyshrule and many other airfields do around the world??

Re: VFR at Night
Hi lookout. I was referring to Night Flying VFR in Irish Airspace/Shannon FIR outside controlled airspace. My bad for not stipulating this. I have heard a few people saying that from January onwards we will be able to Night Fly VFR outside controlled airpsace i.e. Flying from Sligo to Shannon at nig...

Re: VFR at Night
I've heard on the grapevine that as of January 2014 Night VFR is permitted outside Controlled Airpsace. Has anyone heard the same? I tried having a quick browse of SERA but can't find it. If anyone could clarify this for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

What would be your advice for me then? What schools might you know of that you suggest I look up? I feel that I could spend days endlessly doing this :? Yes visitng beforehand is definitely a good idea! I like the brutal honestly of the second last line as it gave me a good laugh  Cheers :)

Re: CPL MEP & MEIR - Where to train?
Yes I am aware of that. I'm looking at doing the IR in Poland or Spain. Did you do CAA or IAA ATPL's? Will you end up with a Swedish Commercial Licence? I worked out the course to be €23k which excludes aircraft rental for test and the associated fees for that too. Did you consider anywhere else? Ho...

Re: CPL MEP & MEIR - Where to train?
Thanks for the reply Bob.
I should have mentioned that I would only be going to EASA/CAA approved schools so there would be no conversion so my bad for that.
Are you doing CPL and ME/IR in Sweden?

CPL MEP & MEIR - Where to train?
Hi all. Just looking for advice on how to approach this next. I am currently doing my ATPL's and have all the hours needed to progress on to CPL after I get these exams out of the way! I am unsure what to do after this and in what order. My aim is to do this as cheaply as possible and I am not conce...

Re: Abbeyshrule Fly in 24th and 25th August 2013
Have to say my father and I had a brilliant time at Abbeyshrule yesterday. The displays everyone did was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Visiting pilots had a lot of freedom during the day unlike other air displays/shows I've attended in the past. The guy doing the radio was top notch. Hope ...
