As a sole owner of a vintage two-seater on a permit, I can say Mark has hit the nail on the head on all counts. Group ownership of a permit is the way to go; assuming you're with the right group and right aircraft for you.

Right now I have no immediate plan to upgrade but I've and Icom A200 so I'dprobably look at something similarly low profile like the Trig 96 or the ICOM A220.
