When I hear people are going to travel on a BA 744 I always tell them about the bang and shudder that happens at/around rotate - the first time I heard/felt it I was a bit concerned!

Isn't it also that FR bought low rated engines for the 738 fleet since they have a longer lifespan? I seem to remember something about that when LDY was at issue.

If we can have Naval Service HQ at Haulbowline we can have Air Corps HQ at SNN, NOC or KIR - given current US activities in SNN it might be advisable to have a secure section of SNN. SNN and ORK second runways

Has an extension for SNN 13/31 or ORK 07/25 (northwest and west respectively) to give more options to 32x/73x traffic in x-wind situations ever been seriously planned? I know turboprops use ORK 07/25 sometimes.
