Re: Spanish Point Fly-In 2013 - 31st Aug/1st Sept

Can I just say a big thank you to all at Spanish Point for their welcome and hospitality. Large cups of tea and sandwiches were gratefully received when I popped in saturday afternoon with my cousin from Gorey. (G-BXGV C172R). Hope the weekend went well and that you had plenty of visitors.

Re: Flying in Australia

Amish - I went out to Perth for a few weeks last year. You need to plow your way through the security documents and how to get them : http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_90101 If you've left yourself enough time then aircraft rental is a possibility after checkout with the rel...

100th Anniversary of First UK-Ireland Flight

From the Gorey Guardian: THE SKY'S the limit as Enniscorthy prepares to host a weekend of exciting aviation events to to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first ever flight from Britain to Ireland. Englishman Denys Corbett Wilson flew from Pembroke to Crane near Enniscorthy in a Bleriot X1 mo...

Re: Gulfstream emergency landing in field, Circa 1980's

Thoroughly enjoyed 'The Runway' which I caught earlier this year at the flicks in Gorey whilst visiting the relatives. The OSI website map reveals a couple of potential sites for the actual film runway. There is one long boggy field running E/W just west of Schull village. Google doesn't have the cl...

Re: Cheaper Fuel than Enniskillen

Enniskillen have their prices on the web. Current fuel deliveries are around £2.10 per litre including VAT. Deliveries just after Easter were around £1.85 per litre including VAT. Thus my guess is that Enniskillen have had a recent delivery and somewhere else has older dwindling stock and is awaitin...

Small Correction Aug 2011 Issue Pg48

Many thanks for the excellent magazine that continues to wend its way across the Irish Sea where it is eagerly devoured in one sitting. One small correction on page 48 (ILAS Fly-In) G-AVTP is a Cessna FR172 H not an 'N' version. It flew in from Northern Wexford ( not Northern Ireland) where it often...

Fair enough only trying to help - Marham and Lossie both had sorties according to the reports and piccies. Belfast Telegraph reported the test flights in its 31st March edition.

LFA19 very active of late

Those who fly North of the Border may like to be aware that LFA19 (Low Flying Area) has been active of late. Reports and photo's of Tornado's are on several sites including their presence at Aldergrove. For many this may be a new phenomenon since the cessation of Operation Banner. Remember Rule 5 an...

Re: ERRORS in the VFR Flight Guide.

Kevin - I am pretty sure Monamolin, Co Wexford has gone. I used to get a 172 in there (with a bit of buttock clenching), but latterly I have moved my Irish trips to a strip up the road (if you know where I mean). The last time I was at Monamolin the 'runway' had been eaten into by some large ruts fr...

Re: Kilkenny Airfield Fly-in 2010

Big thank you to Peter and the folks at KK for a lovely afternoon last Sunday. Good to see and chat to a few familiar faces. Lovely BBQ - you really should have a charity bucket, always feel embarrassed not putting a few euro somewhere. The cousin who accompanied me is now a firm GA supporter. Poppe...

Re: Kilkenny Airfield Fly-in 2010

Just checking - is this still happening (weather permitting)? Gotta book the cessna, do the GAR etc etc., arrange a bed at the folks. I for one have always found the folks at KK very welcoming. I have no problem paying a landing fee. A common practice across the water for fly-ins, where the landing ...
