never seen a rule of thumb for that before. if its for the exams you wont be asked to use the formula only to guesstimate using the scale on the chart.

VOR is fine for the operations that will be carried out. Not that I've seen any school charge VAT in Ireland. but in other countries where it's advertised, just say your PPL flying/training is 'training' for a CPL. flying for 20% off.

No, No Reg. didnt make contact. I did find out by someone else who called inbound about 10 mins after the incident that they we aware of the heli as they were monitoring shannon outside the area. the aircraft was tracking from shannon so a plan would have been filed and so easily traceable.
