regarding the corrosion proofing i believe all tail booms are done now, the only way to keep the corrosion is to wash it every other day and wax it. this is because of new enviormental law in California and they have to use water based primer which is pure useless. i seen a boom scrapped less than 3 yrs old and no hop from robinson. the standard of work comming out of RHC lately has been very poor i think the 44 is bad value for money when you look at it over 12 yr when it is worth practially 0. a second hand 206 makes better sense running costs are about the same when you look at the big picture and there prices are going up all the time. i am sure this will stir things up.

try buy a new tailboom without C/P to replace a scrapped one. anyway i still think the 44 is bad value when you look at it over a 12 yr period. what will second hand values be like when you consider that most of the 44's sold in the last couple of years will have the 12 yr due before 2200 hr are up there will be any amount of timed out 44 in 9/10 years or so. would not like to own one then.

I have an Avmap III, and at work we use the Avmap IV, just my opinion but I think they are very good as the displays are large. At the same time I hear a lot of praise for the Garmin 495, and 396, with the sat weather. Our Avmap is used for hours at a time, for the past three years with not one problem so far. We fly well over nine hundred hours a year....says a lot about the product. Anyway good luck with your new helio.

putting in a 3c unit will require a modification depending who you buy it from will cost over 300 euro to the IAA if its a irish reg, the 496 is a super bit of kit and you could possibly get away with out modifying the aircraft the detail is far better sat weather is not up and running here yet i would go for the 496
