Adding hours abroad

Post by soreilly2003 » Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:15 am

Hi,

I am training under for the FAA ppl here in Ireland. I have about 20hrs done so far and have yet to sit the theory exams. Apart from any course theory issues can I build on my flying hours over in the US when Im there on holidays?

Does the instructor just sign my log book or do I need any additional paperwork off them?

I know its cheaper to do the whole lot over there but Im only interested in getting my PPL & it doesnt suit to go for 2months at a time.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Your doing a FAA PPL in Ireland?

OK this is a comlicated one. You only have 20hours. In which case you will need to be with an instructor. Therefore you require an M1 student visa and must have prior security clearance from the Department of Homeland Security. The visa application is 9 pages long and requires you to go to the American Embassy for an interview.
