EINC - Wicklow Wings Launch

Post by BSmith » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:29 pm

Hi Guys,

(With approval for posting by Mark):

http://www.einc.ie/2011091663/wicklow-w ... -in-flight" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wicklow Wings; are experienced pilots flying for recreational purposes.

The flying group has been established by John Nugent, who believes the group is the first of it's kind in Ireland. “There are a lot of aircraft at Newcastle, many of which aren't being flown often enough justify annual costs. aircraft owners are in a situation whereby they are working harder away from aviation to raise funds, while pilots are constantly looking for a cost effective way to fly. Combined with the benefits of allowing aircraft owners to fly multiple types, Wicklow Wings will provide all their group members with the opportunity to self fly a variety of group aircraft”.

The group has already attracted pilots with significant experience who are interested in a different approach to flight – allowing for the choice of seven aircraft, including Microlight, Taildragger, Fixed Wing, Complex and Rotary classes, with more aircraft owners considering joining the group. “So far interest has been strong in the group from both pilots and aircraft owners, and we all feel this will be a great way to keep aircraft in the skies throughout Ireland” says Nugent.

Wicklow Wings will be holding an launch day for member on Sunday 2nd October – 11am – 5pm. For more information please visit http://www.einc.ie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or call 087 743 7871 (John Nugent).

Brilliant idea lads.

Have to say Newcastle are the most forward thinking airfield I've come across and this is another example of that.

Hi GoGoGadgetGoAround,

Many thanks for your kind words, we want to keep Pilots airbourne and costs low, while helping aircraft owners to keep their planes in service, so it works all round.

Hope to see you all at Newcastle this Sunday - 11am - 5pm

:shock:

Then surely folks will avoid the somewhat vintage models,slightly corroded with a "lived in" interior in favour of the latest plastic models with big mfd's? :P

I didn't have time to go down myself. Does anyone one know what types of aircraft are already involved? Sounds like a brill idea to me. SP
