The reasoning behind this decision...

Re: Contrasts CAA-IAA

I really cannot see something like this being adopted by the IAA. It would be too good to be true.

But, if it could happen, it would be interesting to see the level of competition arising between established flight schools and clubs and individual instructors offering training from unlicensed fields.

Re: Aerobatics lesson

Hi flyingsky, you're correct - the instructor is a guy called David O'Toole, who seems to be very good, knowledgable and enthusiastic. The length of any aerobatic flight depends on how you're feeling and how much you're actually learning. If you feel sick after 10 minutes, then why continue? Stop an...

Re: Aerobatics lesson

Hi Addict, Dave Bruton of Midland Aviation has just set up an aerobatics school based at Abbeyshrule Airfield in Co. Longford. They operate a Super Decathlon and it can be used for anything from tailwheel sign-offs to spin training to aerobatics. http://www.midlandaviation.ie/ will have more info wh...

Re: PROVISIONAL Contest Calendar and events listing for 2010

In the few months before the competition I did, in total, about an hour and a half of training towards the beginner level figures. During the previous year, I had done a good few hours of spin training / upset stuff and basic figures in a Super Decathlon and a few hours here and there on various oth...

Re: PROVISIONAL Contest Calendar and events listing for 2010

Before doing the Loop day last year, I think I did approx 30 mins flying the sequence in the box: flying the sequence, repositioning and flying it again etc etc. During that flight I probably flew the sequence 6 times (flying it doesn't take long but repositioning and taking critique bumps up the ti...

I think it would be optimistic to plan an event before January because of the short days and low probability of good weather. Maybe by waiting until early 2010, we will have more aircraft+instructors available for the day, and we could hold it aiming to get people interested in competing in a BAeA e...

I'd be interested in taking part in an Irish comp, definitely. Sounds like great fun and good for improving ye olde map reading skills :)
