Re: Two die in small plane crash - Kildare 2019-06-13

Hi Paulw, I knew Jim, a gentleman and skilled engineer. He played a big role in getting the Aer Lingus Iolar back to flying condition and keeping the Irish Historic Flight Chipmunks & Stearman in the air. I had the pleasure of flying with him on several occasions in the Chipmunk. Identifying the cau...

Re: looking for Shares/ private rental

Hi flyer100,

If you're interested in flying a 2-seater, I hear FunFly Aerosports at Limetree are getting a Group A Savannah S shortly that may be available to fly. Contact details are at https://funflyaerosports.ie/ . It's not as fast as a Cessna 172 but it's way more fun to fly :)

Mark

Re: looking for Shares/ private rental

Hi PaulW,

It depends what type of aircraft you're looking for but generally I find word of mouth and Facebook are the two most popular ways of finding an aircraft share.

Converting to New Aircraft Types

Hi all, Found a very good document with lots of good advice on converting / transitioning to a new aircraft type. It's available from the LAA website at http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/engineering/TechnicalLeaflets/Operating%20An%20Aircraft/TL%202.30%20Converting%20to%20a%20New%20Type.pdf ...

Re: ATPL take 2

Hi viz,

Thanks for the confirmation, useful to know. I did all my training at NFC but that was 10+ years ago so can't really comment on any recent experience.

Re: ATPL take 2

Hi viz, Welcome back! If you had a JAA PPL then it probably had an expiry date on it, has the licence itself expired? If so this would need to be renewed prior to starting ATPL. The only way to do this is to renew your SEP while you're at it. There may be some minimum training required but this woul...

Hi Brianvincent,

I had heard some rumours about this, do you know where the aircraft is currently located?
