If your PPL issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1, then there should be no need to convert it. Double check with the school but I think any ICAO PPL is enough to start the CPL course. I would be interested in following this thread also.
I heard that a lot of people go to the AeMC at Mater Private, for Ireland, and another place in the UK I was told about was CenterLine.

But let me know also if anyone knows about this.....
